life adoption! It was neither her idea nor her desire to adopt; she was already
the mother of three. Instinctively, she knew God was speaking to her, but she
did not want to listen if His message required action as life-changing as
adopting an orphan. Dread lingered in the aftermath of the disturbing
suggestion, and a debilitating fog of uncertainty settled over her life.
A journey of a thousand miles

not eager to take that first step. Though God was relentless, she remained
adamant. She was determined to ignore the nudging.

God pried Debbie out of her
comfortable existence and opened a door to a life she didn't know existed. But
the Greatest of These is Love is about much more than adoption. It is a story
about the powerful and astonishing ways God uses ordinary people to accomplish
His divine intention that we love one another.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
She grew up in North Carolina, and her “southernism”
was reflected in the books She read. In college, she was a drawing and painting
major with a minor in creative writing. She has been a life-long reader and
writer. Until now she felt no urgency to write for publication, or compile her
volumes into a readable form. She taught
art lessons to kids, painted murals on walls of homes and restaurants, and
sculpted dolls for the National Christmas Show and Maryland Christmas Show,
after leaving National Geographic Society after seven years, trying to earn
enough money to be a stay-at-home mom with three kids.
In 2000, God laid a crushing
burden on her heart to adopt. The call was unambiguous, and it was not
appealing. But God was relentless. The small steps toward obedience changed her
life and her faith dramatically. She was “called to serve” at the local high
school as a substitute teacher, where God has given me a supernatural love for
teens.
